I met up with my dear friend Dongju in the west village for korean lunch the other day w/ sister in tow!
After a delicious lunch at Do Hwa 55 Carmine St. We were sipping coffee in the park when out of nowhere appeared the funniest man I have ever met: Rahiem Biddle.
Rahiem approached us kindly and asked for money because he needed to eat. There was just something about him from the get go as he started to speak so I have him some money and in return he gave us all a comedy act which in actuality is just Rahiem being his natural self! He is unfortunately homeless and unemployed and addicted to crack as he put it – but that doesn’t make him less of a human being, he just needs to work strongly at getting himself together in life!
I couldn’t get enough of his hilarious celebrity sighting stories! I can’t get into all the great gossip he had…0but believe me it was just hilarious!!!!! The way he tells a story is just brilliant! My stomach still hurts from laughing! All he needs is a microphone and an opportunity!
I hope to see him again soon! He said that we made him happy that day just by being open and giving him our time regardless of the money we gave him. His words were very sincere! It was my pleasure really!
What made me so disturbed was how everyone around us in the park disregarded him like he didnt even exisit! Go people react to the homeless is just disgusting! Anyone can be homeless and some people don’t realize that and want to act like they are like a disease, like plague- you just gotta run and hide from it and hope you don’t catch it!
I know I can’t save everyone on earth from their problems but its so important to open ones self up to having new experiences and new people enter your life! You never know how it can benefit you and vice versa!
Cheers to Rahiem and to new experiences! I wonder how we will end up helping each other somehow in life! Hmmm….
